Update on the introduction of tamper-proof cash registers – Non-objection provision of the Federal Ministry of Finance

We would hereby like to advise our customers in the guest management system segment and all visitors to our website that the Federal Ministry of Finance has now officially published a non-objection provision.

The original provision (Gesetz zum Schutz vor Manipulationen an digitalen Grundaufzeichnungen - Law on protection against manipulation of basic digital records - dated 22 December 2016 (Federal Law Gazette page 3152)), stipulating an obligation as of 1 January 2020 that all electronic recording systems used within the meaning of Article 146a Para. 1 Clause 1 AO (Abgabenordnung - Tax Code) in conjunction with Article 1 Clause 1 KassenSichV (Kassensicherungsverordnung - Cash Register Anti-Tampering Ordinance) as well as the associated maintenance of digital records must be protected by a certified technical security device, has thus been updated and the non-objection period extended until 30 September 2020. This means that affected users and manufacturers have an additional 9 months' time to update their cash register system in accordance with the new requirements.
