Since 1 January 2024, the Schulte-Schlagbaum Group (SAG) has revised its management structure as part of an organisational realignment. In an effort to meet the growing challenges in the target markets even better in the future, the Board of Directors will now be assisted by a four-member Management Board.

Mobile access solutions are increasingly in demand, which is why many hotel operators in particular are upgrading their locking systems. One such example is the GINN Hotel Berlin-Potsdam in Teltow, which has been fitted with a mobile access solution from SAG.
Almost no other market segment in the hospitality industry is booming like serviced apart-ments. The market has virtually tripled in the last five years and there is no end in sight. Ac-cording to forecasts released in recent months, serviced apartments are showing the strongest recovery from the crisis in the corona-stricken sector.

On Wednesday, 23 June 2021, Schulte-Schlagbaum AG held its 120th annual general meeting at the Historische Stadthalle in Wuppertal in the form of a virtual meeting, without any of the shareholders or their representatives physically present. As the situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic was still unpredictable, the decision was made to hold the event online for the second time in a row in accordance with COVID-19 legislation. Shareholders were able to participate in the general shareholders’ meeting via an invitation and custom access codes.
As a founding member of the T6 Group*, which consists of German and Swiss suppliers to the door industry and specialised distributors of architectural hardware, SAG will be one of seven exhibitors at the online trade fair on the theme “Innovations around the door”, taking place from 12 to 16 April 2021. In addition to its high-quality mortise locks, SAG will present its current SAG Smart Access product portfolio featuring innovative electronic locking systems.
This year, SAG will be back as an exhibitor at Germany’s largest trade fairs for the hospitality and restaurant industry. The events kick off with INTERGASTRA from 8 to 10 March 2021, held online for the first time as “INTERGASTA digital” – a live virtual event for the hotel and gastronomy business as well as the off-premises market. A few days later marks the start of INTERNORGA, running from 15 to 17 March – the main trade fair for the off-premises market as the digital edition of the International Digital Food Services Expo.
The collaboration between Schulte-Schlagbaum AG with its access solution SAG Smart Access and CODE2ORDER enables automated opening of doors at hotels using a PIN – on the hotel guests’ smartphone, but with no need to download an app. This is a crucial component for an end-to-end digital guest journey, contactless service and smart room control at hotels.
SAG and the Fraunhofer-inHaus-Center entered into a cooperation agreement in January, working on an exciting project to develop new room concepts and intelligent building technology. The 118th general shareholders’ meeting of Schulte-Schlagbaum AG took place on 19/06/2019 in the Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal. The Velbert-based group, under the leadership of Peter Pongratz, reported negative operating results for the past financial year for the first time in three years. In 2018, the group achieved revenues of approximately 50 million euros, whereby around 3 million euros can be attributed to the first-time inclusion of the new SAG acquisition of Sächsische Schlossfabrik GmbH. After three profitable financial years, the group reported a net loss in the past year of 408,000 euros.

Expanding its portfolio of mobile access solutions, SAG is teaming up with Sony Mobile, experts in connectivity as well as user experience, who is delivering advanced IoT solutions to many different industries. Schulte-Schlagbaum AG acquires 100% shares in Sächsische Schlossfabrik GmbH in Groitzsch from Franz Schneider Brakel GmbH + Co KG. The addition of Sächsische Schlossfabrik GmbH to the Velbert-based group of companies enables both companies to exploit extensive synergy effects in production, development and distribution.
On the 117th ordinary general shareholders’ meeting of Schulte-Schlagbaum AG on 27/6/2018 in the Historische Stadthalle Wuppertal, the Chairman Peter Pongratz presented some positive figures: The group of companies headquartered in Velbert achieved an operating result of € 1.3 million. Revenues totalled € 47 million, up 2% year-on-year.
The facts speak for themselves: with around 12 million compressions a year and 250 tonnes of compressive force, the new automatic punching press at the Velbert site is a heavyweight in two ways: not counting the peripherals, such as various control elements, this state-of-the-art machine weighs a whole 33 tonnes, and is therefore the most powerful machine of its kind of the eight punching presses at Velbert. SAG is the German market leader in the manufacture of mortice locks for interior doors. With investments such as these, we intend to defend our market position in the area of ‘locks and striking plate systems’, even in the face of strengthening competition from low-wage countries.

The Supervisory Board of Schulte-Schlagbaum AG resolved in its ordinary meeting on Friday, 15 December 2017, the early extension of the contract with CEO, Peter Pongratz, which would have ended in 2018. By the signing of the contract, the cooperation is fixed until the further appointment on 31.12.2022.

Past week, at the SO! APART in Berlin, SAG participated in a very special event of the hospitality industry: the trade convention and exhibit is considered by now to be the industry meeting point for all topics relating to the “serviced apartments” hospitality concept. In addition, this long-stay segment is considered to be one of the fastest growing business fields in the accommodation trade of the hotel industry and, especially where the topic of access solutions and mobile check-in is concerned, it has many commonalities with the SAG product portfolio.
A fantastic finish for novacom at the company award “Austria’s Leading Companies” presented on 20 November in Graz. With third place in the “Best national companies” category of the Steiermark Region, novacom joins the ranks of the top 27 companies in Austria.

The current product portfolio of SAG meets the high standards for design and “intelligent living space” for professionals and students in many ways while ensuring convenient administration. Schulte-Schlagbaum AG participated again this year in a trainee exchange to let its trainees gain insights into the structure and professional life at a different company. With the objective of sharpening the awareness for the processes in production at the trainee’s own companies, but also to let them be inspired to new ideas for processes and solutions, the exchange was organised jointly by the HR officers of the two companies. As a result, the SAG trainees first visited the company Lüttgens Kunststoff-Technik in Heiligenhaus. After a company presentation on site, a plant tour and lunch together, the trainees had the chance to get an impression of the company and compare it with their own experiences. The commercial and technical SAG trainees accompanied their colleagues of Lüttgens to their departments to get an impression of what life is like in their profession at other firms.
Even though the interest of school graduates is increasingly shifting toward an academic education, trainee positions in technical and commercial professions at Schulte-Schlagbaum AG continue to be in high demand. This year again, the company is happy to welcome six new young colleagues and consequently continues to be a very popular contact for trainee candidates.
In Jan-Eric Oltmann, SAG has brought another experienced sales employee on board to handle the Northern German market. He manages customers and assets, primarily in the hospitality market, which have a particular affinity for electronic access solutions and the corresponding SAG product portfolio for doors and cabinets.

The trade fair “Alles für den Gast”, which took place in Salzburg from 5 until 9 November, demonstrated once again why it has become an annual must-visit event for all players in the gastronomical industry – far beyond the borders of Austria. Against the background of the positive development of the German construction industry, which has recorded a considerable rise in new building permits for flats and residencies in apartment buildings, CEO Peter Pongratz reported on the development of the SAG business divisions during the past financial year at the annual general meeting of Schulte-Schlagbaum AG, held on 29 June in Wuppertal. The corporation has been able to increase its sales revenue by 3% to approximately EUR 42 million. Its end-of-year result was similarly positive with TEUR +740 compared to the previous year.
By appointing a new sales manager in Belgium, Schulte-Schlagbaum AG (SAG) has further strengthened its sales activities for electronic locking systems in Benelux. Based in Retie near Antwerpen, Sales Manager Rowald Hindriks will focus on promoting final-customer acquisition in selected target markets.

As started successfully in 2015 already with the market launch of the PREMIUM LINE insert locks, we will change over further model series of SAG insert locks to new the trap construction using the Whisper Comfort Sound Insulation 2.0.
With a new, revised version of the skeleton key locks of classes 2 and 3, SAG offers an innovative expansion of the product portfolio. Perforated series profile cylinder locks according to the DIN standard serve as the basis for the future equipment of SAG’s skeleton key locks with improved quality.
To match the mortise locks pursuant with DIN and Austrian standards, SAG has developed a new strike plate for butted and flush elements for use in the high quality residential and commercial sector. An adjustable and simultaneously noise-reducing lock edge design made of synthetic material allows for a fine adjustment range of about 3 mm. The integrated synthetic material rear lining lines the catch opening.

Next week, Internorga, which is one of the leading trade fairs in the food service and hospitality industry, will again open its doors in Hamburg from 11-16 March 2016. SAG will also present its solutions, especially the online check-in, under the motto "Faster check-in – More time for service: Mobile access solutions for your guests".
The two-booth concept of the SAG and its subsidiaries novacom and EDV-Service Schaupp was a complete success, as the number of visitors clearly proves: Compared to the last appearance, almost twice as many trade fair visitors were interested in the solutions this year under the motto "Guest management 4.0 – We organise access and billing"!
