BRIDGE BETWEEN LOCKING TECHNOLOGY AND HOSPITALITY
The fact that "the hospitality industry" is still an important key to success for SAG is testament to the strong market orientation of our company, which for over 180 years has always been able to open up new and attractive niche markets, in addition to the still flourishing lock production sector.
Start of a global success story
1968 SAFE-O-MAT® coin-operated lock |
As the building of swimming pools was heavily promoted under the “golden plan” during the “economic miracle” of the 1960s, when full employment meant difficulties in finding staff, we developed the SAFE-O-MAT® – a coin-operated lock system which allowed guests to look after their own belongings. This was the start of a global success story: Whether in leisure facilities, libraries, museums, clinics or secondary schools, SAFE-O-MAT® deposit and coin-collecting locks have proven to be the ideal solution wherever people require the temporary and secure self-service storage of their clothes, valuables and other belongings.
Hardware and software for the leisure market
1970 Swimming pool ticket machines |
The principle of coin insertion was the perfect way for SAG to get into the business of automatic ticket machines for swimming pool access, which were first used in the Munich Olympiastadion in 1972.
Top suppliers for leisure facilities, food service and communal catering
1999 Schulte-Schlagbaum AG acquires shares in novacom software gmbh. |
2000 The subsidiary for system integration, eccos pro gmbh, is founded. |
2005 MAFIS GmbH is taken over by the Schulte-Schlagbaum Group. |
2010 EDV-Service Schaupp GmbH is taken over by the Schulte-Schlagbaum Group. |
On acquiring the software company for leisure facilities, mafis GmbH, which joined the Schulte-Schlagbaum Group and was moved over to the SAG subsidiary, eccos pro GmbH, founded in 2000, we were well positioned to provide customers with a solution-oriented strategy, which we have consistently developed over the years with the acquisition of catering software specialists, novacom (1999) and the software experts for communal catering, EDV-Service Schaupp (2010).
Locking systems for the hotel market
We were able to enter the hotel market with coin lockers for valuables in the 80s, which led to market leadership in Germany in the 90s with the development of a mechanical magnetic card lock (VARIFLEX®) for hotels.
Electronic locking system expertise
The company has been extremely successful since the end of the 90s thanks to the development of contactless transponder technology in electronic locking systems for cabinets (SAFE-O-TRONIC® and SAFE-O-PIN®) and for doors (VARIfree®).
Since 2010 we have further developed and consolidated our electronic door- and furniture locking systems into a uniform platform: the multi award-winning brand SAFE-O-TRONIC®.
2011 The SAFE-O-TRONIC® access product range for cabinets is expanded with the DS door locking system. |
Acquisition of Sächsische Schlossfabrik for broader market penetration
2018 Sächsische Schlossfabrik GmbH, Groitzsch is included in the Schulte-Schlagbaum Group. |
Effective 1st July 2018 Schulte-Schlagbaum AG acquired 100% shares in Sächsische Schlossfabrik GmbH in Groitzsch from Franz Schneider Brakel GmbH + Co KG. Sächsische Schlossfabrik GmbH has a history in the production of door locks and strike plates that spans 115 years. The incorporation of the company in the Schulte-Schlagbaum Group enables Schulte-Schlagbaum AG, which boasts a 185-year tradition in lock manufacture, to further penetrate the mortise lock market both nationally and internationally.
Guest and access management for the hospitality market
Under the motto “We organise access and billing”, our company is a successful solutions provider focused on the hospitality market (leisure facilities, accommodation, health, education, catering and community catering).
