BRIDGE BETWEEN LOCKING TECHNOLOGY AND HOSPITALITY
Many people do not know that our company, which was founded in 1833, had its origin in the Velbert restaurant “Am Schlagbaum”, a popular meeting place for locksmiths who had to pass a customs barrier on their way between Essen and Solingen.
With the motto “We organise access and billing”, our company is currently a leading manufacturer of locks and locking systems, as well as a successful solutions provider focused on the hospitality market (leisure facilities, accommodation, health, education, catering and community catering). A development which innkeeper, Wilhelm Schulte, would probably never have dreamed of in 1833...

Our roots: A restaurant
Many people do not know that our company, which was founded in 1833, had its origin in the Velbert restaurant “Am Schlagbaum”, a popular meeting place for locksmiths who had to pass a customs barrier on their way between Essen and Solingen.

1833 Start of lock production |
The owner, Wilhelm Schulte, soon moved over to lock production, initially at home and then later in his own production shop on-site. He, like so many other companies in the “key region”, manufactured locks.

Lock production began in Switzerland in 1924.
